To Him belongs the kingdom (of the universe) and to Him all praises are due. And He has the power to do every thing." [Tirmidhi]

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2431]

It is also reported in a number of authentic traditions that in the beginning, fasting on the day of Ashurah was obligatory for the Muslims. It was later that the fasts of Ramadhan were made obligatory and the fast on the day of Ashurah was made optional. Sayyidina 'A'ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said, "When the Holy Prophet, upon whom be peace, came to Madinah, he fasted on the day of Ashurah and directed the people to fast. But when the fasts of Ramadhan were made obligatory, the obligation of fasting was confined to Ramadhan and the obligatory nature of the fast of Ashurah was abandoned. Whoever so desires should fast on it and any other who so likes can avoid fasting on it." [Sunan Abi Dawud]

'Abd-Allah ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) fasted on 'Aashooraa' and commanded the Muslims to fast as well, they said, 'O Messenger of Allah, it is a day that is venerated by the Jews and Christians.' But it so happened that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) passed away before the next year came." (Reported by Muslim, 1916).

Hazrat Tamim bin Aus Ad-Dari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah[SAWW](PBUH) said, "Ad-Deen is sincerity". We said: "For whom?'' He replied, "For Allah, His Book, His Messenger and for the leaders of the Muslims and their masses". [Muslim Book 01, Chapter 24, Hadith # 098] This Hadith stresses the importance and merits of general sincerity. Sincerity for Allah here means that one must have true faith in Him and He should be worshiped with full devotion and sincerity. Sincerity for the Qur'an means that one should confirm its truth with one's full heart and mind, recite it regularly, act upon the injunctions contained in it with meticulous care and strictly avoid its misinterpretation. Sincerity of the Prophet (PBUH) means sincere confirmation of his Prophet hood, faithful obedience of his orders and adherence to his Sunnah. The goodwill of the Muslim rulers stands here for co-operating with them in their lawful orders and obedience of their orders which are free from any trace of sin. If they deviate from the Straight Path they should be persuaded to turn to virtue. One should not revolt against them unless they commit infidelity. The goodwill of the Muslim masses means that one should work for the betterment of their life in this world and the Hereafter. They should be provided the right guidance, induced to perform good deeds and deterred from evils.

Hazrat Abu Qatadah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) was asked about the observance of Saum (fasting) on the day of `Arafah. They will say: By Allah, you have increased in beauty and loveliness after we have returned.” Source: Sahih Muslim 2833 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Imam Muslim Via Daily Hadith Online

" (Bukhari 8/421)
Both the Qur'an and the Sunnah enjoin Muslims to be conscious of time. We are reminded that life in this world is nothing but temporary. We never know when death has been appointed for us. We must value time for the satisfaction of Allah the Almighty. For our guidance and success, we must never waste time nor abuse it.

Narrated / Authority of: Um-Atiya R.A,

(Reported by Bukhari in al-Adab al-Mufrad, 1/371, bab husn al-khulq)

All of my nation is apt to be forgiven except for those who commit sins openly. Included among those who commit sins openly is where a person performs a deed during the night and although Allah had concealed that sin, in the morning he says, 'O so and so, last night I did such and such.' He spent the night being concealed by Allah and in the morning he uncovered Allah's concealment from himself." [Bukhari]

Narrated Abu Hurairah(r) Allah’s Messenger(s) said, “A group of people (both men and women) whose hearts will be like the hearts of birds will enter Paradise.” [Muslim] It has been interpreted that such people are those who put their trust in Allah; another interpretation is that these people are tender-hearted.

Allah’s Messenger(s) said, “ There are two statements that are light for the tongue to remember, heavy in the scales and are dear to the Merciful: ‘Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi,Subhan-Allahil-Azim [Glory be to Allah and His is the praise,(and) Glory be to Allah, the Most Great]” [Al Bukhari and Muslim]

He said: Not even Jihaad in the Path of Allah, the Most High, except if a man goes out (for Jihaad) with his self and his wealth, then he doesn't return with anything from that."
(Al-Bukhaaree, Abu Daawood and others. The exact wording is that of Abu Daawood)

It is reported that the messenger of Allah said,“Whoever has humility for the sake of Allah, Allah will raise him up so that he will be small in his own sight, and great in the sight of people. And whoever is arrogant, Allah will debase him so that he will be small in the sight of people, large in his own sight, until he becomes more heinous than the dog or pig”

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet was asked, "Which is the best deed?" He said, "To believe in Allah and His Apostle." He was then asked, "Which is the next (in goodness)?" Anas bin Malik: Allah's Apostle mentioned the greatest sins or he was asked about the greatest sins. He said, "To join partners in worship with Allah; to kill a soul which Allah has forbidden to kill; and to be undutiful or unkind to one's parents." The Prophet added, "Shall I inform you of the biggest of the great sins? That is the forged statement or the false witness." Al-Bukhari.

Narrated by Abu Hurayrah (Radhi Allahu Anhu): The Apostle of Allah (Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam) said:“The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday; on it Adam was created, on it he was expelled (from Paradise), on it his contrition was accepted, on it he died, and on it the Last Hour will take place. On Friday every beast is on the lookout from dawn to sunrise in fear of the Last Hour, but not jinn and men, and it contains a time at which no Muslim prays and asks anything from Allah but He will give it to him.”Ka’b said: “That is one day every year.”
So I said: “It is on every Friday.”Ka’b read the Torah and said: “The Apostle of Allah (Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam) has spoken the truth.”Abu Hurayrah (Radhi Allahu Anhu) said: “I met Abdullah ibn Salam (Radhi Allahu Anhu) and told him of my meeting with Ka’b.”
Abdullah ibn Salam (Radhi Allahu Anhu) said: “I know what time it is.”Abu Hurayrah (Radhi Allahu Anhu) said: “I asked him to tell me about it.”Abdullah ibn Salam said: “It is at the very end of Friday.”I asked: “How can it be when the Apostle of Allah (Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam) has said: “No Muslim finds it while he is praying….” and this is the moment when no prayer is offered.”Abdullah ibn Salam said: “Has the Apostle of Allah (Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam) not said: “If anyone is seated waiting for the prayer, he is engaged in the prayer until he observes it.”I said: “Yes, it is so.”
(Abu Dawud Book 2 No. 1041)

Sufyaan ibn 'Abdillaah radhiAllaahu 'anhu said: "O Messenger of Allah, tell me something about Islam, which I cannot ask anyone else besides you." He said: "Say: 'I believe in Allah' and then be steadfast (upon that)."[Sahih Muslim (38)]

Abudullah Amr Al-as reported Allah's messenger, as saying: Verily Allah does not take away knowledge by snatching it from the people but re-takes away knowledge by taking away the scholars, so that when He leaves no learned person, people turn to ignorant as their leaders, then they are asked to deliver religious verdicts, and they deliver them without knowledge, they go astray and lead others astray. (Al-Bukhari).

The first sign: it was reported in Sahih Muslim from the hadith of Ubayy ibn Ka’b that the Prophet (peace be upon him) announced that one of its signs was that when the sun rose on the following morning, it had no (visible) rays. [Muslim, 762]

The second sign: it was reported from the hadith of Ibn ‘Abbas narrated by Ibn Khuzaimah, and by al-Tayalisi in his Musnad, with a Sahih isnad, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

“Laylat al-Qadr is a pleasant night, neither hot nor cold, and the following day the sun rises red and weak.”[Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah, 2912; Musnad al-Tayalisi].

The third sign: it was reported by al-Tabarani with a hasan isnad from the hadith of Wathilah ibn al-Asqa’ that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:“Laylat al-Qadr is a bright night, neither hot nor cold, in which no meteors are seen.”[Narrated by al-Tabarani in al-Kabir. Musnad Ahmad]

Kaab Ibn Ujrah (RA) relates that Rasulullah (SAW) said Come near to the mimbar and we came near the mimbar. When He (SAW) climbed the first step of the mimbar, He (SAW) said "Aameen", When He (SAW) ascended the second step, He (SAW) said "Aameen", When He (SAW) climbed the third step, He (SAW) said "Aameen" When He (SAW) came down, We said "O Rasool of Allah (SAW), we have heard from you today something which we never heard before" He (SAW) said When I climbed the first step, the angel Jibraeel (A.S.) appeared before me and said "Destruction to him who found the blessed month of Ramdhan and let it pass by without gaining forgiveness" upon that I said 'Aameen'. When I climbed the second step, he said, "Destruction to him before whom thy name is taken and then he does not make Dua for Allah's blessing on me (by saying, for example SAW)." I replied 'Aameen'. When I climbed the third step, he said "Destruction unto him in whose lifetime his parents or either one of them reaches old age, and (through failure to serve them) he is not allowed to enter Jannah". I said 'Aameen'. (Hakim, Baihaqi) Note In this Hadith, it appears that Jibraeel (AS) gave expression to three curses, upon which Rasulullah (SAW) said Aameen every time. In al-Durr al-Mansoor it is reported that Jibraeel (AS) advised Rasulullah (SAW) to say Aameen. Being an angel of such high mark, Jibraeel 's giving these curses is sure to be accepted. May Allah (Subhanahu wa Taala) in His infinite mercy grant us His help and save us from these three dangers.

Abu Huraira related that the Prophet said: Allah the Majestic and Exalted said: "Every deed of man will receive ten to 700 times reward, except Siyam (fasting), for it is for Me and I shall reward it (as I like). There are two occasions of joy for one who fasts: one when he breaks the fast and the other when he will meet his Lord".

 (Muslim)

A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) did not observe fast in any month of the year more than in the month of Sha'ban, and used to say: Do as many deeds as you are capable of doing, for Allah will not become weary (of giving you reward), but you would be tired (of doing good deeds) ; and he also said: The deed liked most by Allah is one to which the doer adheres constantly even if it is small.

Hazrat Anas ibn Maalik (R.A.) narrates in a hadith of Sahih Bukhari that Rasulullah SA mentioned: " Whoever forgets to pray a Salah, it is obligatory upon him that he pray that Salah when he remembers. There is no other way that this can be made up."

Sahih Bukhari, Kitaabul Mawaaqeet - Hadith 597

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "If any one of you says, "Amin" and the angels in the heavens say "Amin" and the former coincides with the latter, all his past sins will be forgiven."
(Sahih Al Bukhari - Book #12, Hadith #748)

It is narrated on the authority of Aishah, radiyallahu 'anha, that the Messenger of Allah(pbuh) said: "Whosoever introduces into this affair of ours (i.e. into Islam) something that does not belong to it, it is to be rejected.

Al-Bukhari & Muslim

Narrated by Anas bin Malik (R): Allah's Apostle says that As the son of Adam(AS) that is man, grows old and so the two desires grow old with him,i.e., a love for wealth and a wish for a long life.

Bukhari.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: I brought water to Uthman bin 'Affan to perform the ablution while he was sitting on his seat. He performed the ablution in a perfect way and said, "I saw the Prophet performing the ablution in this place and he performed it in a perfect way and said, "Whoever performs the ablution as I have done this time and then proceeds to the mosque and offers a two-Rak'at prayer and then sits there (waiting for the compulsory congregational prayers), then all his past sins will be forgiven." The Prophet further added, "Do not be conceited (thinking that your sins will be forgiven because of your prayer)."

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Allah says, 'I have nothing to give but Paradise as a reward to my believer slave, who, if I cause his dear friend (or relative) to die, remains patient (and hopes for Allah's Reward)."
Muslim

Abdullah bin 'Umar said, "Allah's Apostle took hold of my shoulder and said, 'Be in this world as if you were a stranger or a traveler." The sub-narrator added: Ibn 'Umar used to say, "If you survive till the evening, do not expect to be alive in the morning, and if you survive till the morning, do not expect to be alive in the evening, and take from your health for your sickness, and (take) from your life for your death."
Narrated Mujahid

On the authority of An Nawwas ibn Saman (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet SA said : Righteousness is good morality, and wrongdoing is that which wavers in your soul and which you dislike people finding out about.

Narrated Abu Huraira: I said: "O Allah's Apostle! Who will be the luckiest person, who will gain your intercession on the Day of Resurrection?" Allah's Apostle said: O Abu Huraira! "I have thought that none will ask me about it before you as I know your longing for the (learning of) Hadiths. The luckiest person who will have my intercession on the Day of Resurrection will be the one who said sincerely from the bottom of his heart "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah."

And 'Umar bin 'Abdul 'Aziz wrote to Abu Bakr bin Hazm, "Look for the knowledge of Hadith and get it written, as I am afraid that religious knowledge will vanish and the religious learned men will pass away (die). Do not accept anything save the Hadiths of the Prophet. Circulate knowledge and teach the ignorant, for knowledge does not vanish except when it is kept secretly (to oneself)."

On the authority of Abu Huraria (may Allah be pleased with him). who said: The Messenger of Allah SA said: Each person's every joint must perform a charity everyday the sun comes up: to act justly between two people is a charity; to help a man with his mount, lifting him onto it or hoisting up his belongings onto it is a charity; a good word is a charity; every step you take to prayers is a charity; and removing a harmful thing from the road is a charity.

Muslim and Bukhari

Bukhari narrated in his book from Abu Huraira that the Prophet (s) said,
Allah, Almighty and Exalted, has angels who seek the people of Dhikr. If they find the people of Dhikr they encompass them until they reach the first heaven. And Allah asks his angels, 'What are my servants doing?' The angels say, 'O Allah, they are praising You and glorifying You and they are making Dhikr.' Allah says, 'Did they see Me?' The angels answer, 'No, they didn't see You.' Then Allah asks, 'How would it be if they were to see Me?' The angels reply, 'O Allah, if they were to see You, they would be making more praise of You and more glorification of You and more Dhikr of You.' And Allah asks 'What are they asking for?' The angels say, 'They are asking for Your Paradise.' Allah asks, 'Did they see My Paradise?' The angels answer, 'No, Our Lord.' Allah continues, 'How would it be if they saw My Paradise?' The angels reply, 'They would be more attracted and more eager to reach it.' Then Allah asks them, 'Of what are they afraid?' And the angels say, 'They are afraid of hellfire.' and Allah asks, 'How would it be if they saw my Hellfire?' and they reply, 'They would be running more and more away from it and asking more and more protection from it.' Then Allah said,' I am making you all My witnesses: that I am forgiving them of all their sins.' Then one angel asked, 'O our Lord, there is among these people one who is not from them, he came only to ask for something from one of them.' Allah said, 'Those are my beloved ones who are making My Dhikr. Anyone who comes into their circle will be forgiven, and I am forgiving him.

Hazrat Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (Peace be Upon Him) said: "No illnesses, misfortunes, calamities, nor signs of devilish influences descend upon this earth in the month of Safar." Bukhari Shareef also mentions that neither illnesses, misfortunes, calamities, nor any signs of devilish influences plague the earth this month.

It is reported by Abu Huraira (RA) that the Prophet (SA) said, "Faith (Belief) consists of more than sixty branches (i.e. parts). And Haya (This term "Haya" covers a large number of concepts which are to be taken together; amongst them are self respect, modesty, bashfulness, and scruple, etc.) is a part of Faith."
Sahih al Bukhari – No. 8

On the authority of Ibn Abbas -RadhiAllaahu anhu- 'that the Messenger of Allah SallAllahu alayhi wa sallam- fasted the day of ‘Ashurah, and he ordered for it to be fasted.'
Bukhari and Muslim.

The Noble Prophet, Sall-Allahu alayhi wa sallam, has said: 'The best fasts after the fasts of Ramadan are those of the month of Muharram."

Although the fasts of the month of Muharram are not obligatory, yet one who fasts in these days out of his own will is entitled to a great reward by Allah Almighty. The Hadith cited above signifies that the fasts of the month of Muharram are most rewardable ones among the Nafl or voluntary fasts.

The Hadith does not mean that the award promised for fasts of Muharram can be achieved only by fasting for the whole month. On the contrary, each fast during this month has merit. Therefore, one should avail of this opportunity as much as he can.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) delivered a Khutbah and said, "O people! Hajj (pilgrimage to the House of Allah) has been made incumbent upon you, so perform Hajj.'' A man inquired: "O Messenger of Allah, is it prescribed every year?'' He (PBUH) remained silent till the man repeated it thrice. Then he (PBUH) said, "Had I replied in the affirmative, it would have surely become obligatory, and you would not have been able to fulfill it.'' Afterwards he said, "Do not ask me so long as I do not impose anything upon you, because those who were before you were destroyed on account of their frequent questioning and their disagreement with their Prophets. So when I order you to do something, do it as far as you can; and when I forbid you from doing anything, eschew it.''
[Muslim].

Commentary: This Hadith brings out the following points:

1. Hajj is compulsory once in a lifetime for those who have the means for it.

2. Unnecessary questioning is disliked.

3. Those who believe in Allah and His Prophet (PBUH) are required to do what they are ordained and abstain from what they are forbidden.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar ,The Prophet said, "All of you are guardians and are responsible for your wards. The ruler is a guardian and the man is a guardian of his family; the lady is a guardian and is responsible for her husband's house and his offspring; and so all of you are guardians and are responsible for your wards."AL Bukhari.

Abu Ayyub Ansari narrated that messenger of Allah's pbuh  Said "He  who fasts  Ramadan, and six of Shawaal it will be (in terms of  rewards) as if he fasted a whole year. " Muslim and others.
