It is reported from Umar (r) that Prophet Muhammad(s) said: “Do not exaggerate in praising me so much as the Christians did in extolling Jesus (pbuh) that they made him Allah’ son. I am only Allah’s slave. So call me Allah’s slave and His apostle.” ... view more |

Ibn al-Qayyim:
"When Allaah granted Prophet Yusuf physical beauty it caused him to be locked up in the prison. But when Allaah granted him knowledge (when he interpreted the dream of the king) it not only took him out of prison but elevated his rank in society. Clearly showing us the virtue of knowledge, and that physical beauty does not mean a thing" ... view more > |

A Woman Dragging her Garments |
Yahya related to me from Malik from al Ala ibn Abd ar-Rahman that his father said, "I asked Abu Said al-Khudri about the lower garment. He said that he would inform me with knowledge and that he had heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say, 'The lower garment of the mumin should reach to the middle of his calves. There is no harm in what is between that and the ankles. What is lower than that is in the Fire. What is lower than that is in the Fire. On the Day of Rising, Allah will not look at a person who trails his lower garment in arrogance.' "
Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu Bakr ibn Nafi from his father Nafi, the mawla of Ibn Umar that Safiyya bint Abi Ubayd informed him that Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said that when the lower garment of women was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah, he said, "She lets it down a handspan." Umm Salama said, "If it leaves her uncovered?" He said, "Then the length of a forearm and let her not increase it."

So, act kindly towards women |
Abdullah b. Amr reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The whole world is a provision, and the best object of benefit of the world is the pious woman.
Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying: He who believes in Allah and the Hereafter, if he witnesses any matter he should talk in good terms about it or keep quiet.Act kindly towards woman, for woman is created from a rib, and the most crooked part of the rib is its top.If you attempt to straighten it, you will break it, and if you leave it, its crookedness will remain there. So act kindly towards women.

Have You Thanked Allah? |
Salmân al-Fârsî radhiyAllahu anhu said:
“There was a man who was given many of the luxuries of this world, and then they were taken away from him. But he continued to praise and thank Allâh until everything had been taken from him, even his bed. And then he still praised and thanked Allâh. Another man, who had also been given many of the luxuries of this world asked him, ‘What are you praising and thanking Allâh for?’ The man said, ‘I am praising and thanking Him for blessings which, if others asked me to give them to them in return for all that they have, I would never give them up.’ ‘What can they be?’ asked the second man. ‘Can’t you see?’ asked the first man. ‘I have my eyesight, my tongue, my hands, my feet...’”

A Sin that Leads to Jannah |
Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said:
"Sin may be more beneficial for a person, if it leads him to repent, than doing a lot of acts of worship. This is what is meant by the words of one of the salaf:
'A person may commit a sin and enter Paradise because of it, or he may do an act of worship and enter Hell because of it.'
They said: 'How is that?'
He said: 'He may commit a sin and continues to think about it, and when he stands or sits or walks he remembers his sin, so he feels ashamed and repents and seeks forgiveness and regrets it, so that will be the means of his salvation.
And he may do a good deed and continue to think about it, and when he stands or sits or walks he remembers it and it fills him with self-admiration and pride, so it is the cause of his doom.
So the sin may be the factor that leads him to do acts of worship and good deeds and to change his attitude so that he fears Allah and feels shy before Him and feels humiliated before Him, hanging his head in shame and weeping with regret, seeking he forgiveness of his Lord. Each of these effects is better for a person than an act of worship that makes him feel proud and show off and look down on people. Undoubtedly this sin is better before Allah and is more likely to bring salvation than one who admires himself and looks down on others, and who thinks that he is doing Allah a favour. Even if he says words that indicate something other than that, Allah is the Witness over what is in his heart. Such a person may feel hatred towards people if they do not hold him in high esteem and humiliate themselves before him. If he were to examine himself honestly, he would see that clearly."

Dhikr: Its Virtues and Manners |
Allaah says: “Therefore remember me, I will remember you and be grateful to me and do not reject faith.” [Surah Al-Baqarah: 152] Brother Muslim, know that Allaah gives success and reciprocates the reward of those who engage themselves regularly in His Remembrance.
And that by staying absorbed in this noble act of dhikr one replaces engaging in talk in which there is no benefit with that which is much greater and more rewarding in this world and the next.
And certainly the narrations and the ayaat concerning the greatness of dhikr are many. Allaah says: “O you who believe remember Allaah with much remembrance, and glorify His praises in the morning and the afternoon.” [Surah Al-Ahzaab: 41-42]
And Allaah says: “Those who believe and whose hearts find tranquility in the Remembrance of Allaah, verily in the Remembrance of Allaah do hearts find tranquility.” [Surah Ar-Radd: 28]
And from the ahaadeeth, on the authority of Abu Hurayrah (radyAllaahu ‘anhu), the Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said that Allaah said: “Indeed I am as My servant presumes me to be. And I am with him when He remembers me, so if he remembers Me to himself then I remember him to Myself. And if he remembers Me amongst a company I remember him amongst a company greater than it and if he draws close to Me a span of a hand I draw near to him the span of an arm. And if he draws near Me the span of an arm, I draw near him the span of two outstretched arms. And if he takes a step towards Me, I quickly step towards him.” [Al-Bukharee and Muslim]
In another hadeeth on the authority of Abu Moosaa al-Ash’aree (radyAllaahu ’anhu ), the Messenger of Allaah said: “The comparison of the one who remembers Allaah and the one who doesn’t is like that of the living and the dead.” [Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree]
From the mannerisms of Dhikr: It is essential that the one performing Dhikr rectifies his heart in that dhikr, along with his tongue. There is no benefit for the one who makes dhikr upon the tongue only, while his heart is not in cooperation, reciprocating what is being uttered by the tongue. It is also essential that the one performing the dhikr knows and understands what he is saying in his supplication and what he is asking for
Allaah says: “And remember your Lord with your tongue and within yourself, humbly and with fear and without loud words, in the morning and afternoon and be not of those who are neglectful.” [Surah Al-A’araaf: 205] |
|
You Cannot Please Everyone |
Prophet Moosaa (’alayhisalam) said: ‘O my Lord, the people say things about me which are not (i.e. not true)! So Allah revealed to him: ‘O Moosaa, I did not make that (privilege) for Myself, so how can I make it the case for you?’ [2]
Aisha (radiyallaahu `anha) wrote to Mu’awiya (radiyallaahu`anhu): ‘Salamun ‘alayk. Amma ba’d, I have heard the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam) say, ‘Whoever gains the Pleasure of Allah by the anger of the people (i.e. thereby gains their anger), Allah suffices him of the people’s troubles. And whoever gains the pleasure of the people by the Anger of Allah (i.e. in the process he gains His Anger), then Allah leaves him to the people.’ Wa-Salaamu ‘alayk.’ [4]
A man said to al-Hasan al-Basree (rahimahullaah) : ‘The people sit around you so that they may find fault with you!’ So he said, ‘Indeed, I encouraged my soul to aspire for Paradise so it aspired for it. Then I encouraged it to aspire for salvation from Hellfire and so it aspired for it. Then I encouraged it to aspire for salvation from the people, but I didn’t find a way to that. Indeed the people were not pleased with their Creator although He provides for them, so how can they be pleased with another creation like themselves?’ [1] |

HIGH ESTEEM OF WOMEN IN ISLAM |
Women have a very important place in Islamic Society. Unlike a number of other religions, Islam holds a woman in high esteem. Her importance as a mother and a wife has been clearly stated by the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam. The Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam is reported to have said, "Paradise lies at the feet of your mothers." Once a person asked the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam,"Who deserves the best care from me?" Our Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam replied, "Your mother." This, He repeated three times, "Then your father and your nearest relative."
In His farewell speech at Arafah in the tenth year of Hijrah, the Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said, "O people, your wives have certain rights over you and you have certain rights over them. Treat them well and be kind to them, for they are your partners and committed helpers." The Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam also said, " The best among you is the one who is best towards his wife."
These sayings clearly prove the important position given to women in Islam. But there are still people, who have misgivings about the status of women in Islam. To these people, the Muslim woman is seen almost as a prisoner, and as someone who has no right and is always living under the domination of man. These notions are totally wrong, and are based on ignorance rather than knowledge of Islam.
One of the rites of Haj is a fast walk between Safa and Marwah, which is observed to remember the event of Hazrat Hajra, the mother of Hazrat Ismail Alayhis Salam, who ran between these two hills to find water. This is another proof of the importance given to women in Islam. This position is further supported by press reports that 10 000 German, single professional women have embraced Islam in the past few years because they found their rights were sanctified in Islam.
May Almighty Allah give us all the right understanding, Ameen!

EXCESSIVE LAUGHING |
Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) said: “If you knew what I know you would laugh a little and cry a lot!”
Once Hasan al-Basri [amongst the famous Tabi'een-the generation after the death of the Prophet sal Allahu 'alaihi wasallam] passed by a young man who was laughing a lot. Hasan al-Basri asked him: “Oh my nephew, did Allah promise to free you from Hellfire?” The man replied, “No.” Hasan al-Basri then asked: “Did Allah promise to give you Jannah?” The man said, “No.” Hasan al-Basri said: “Then why are you laughing?”
The horror of Jahannum (Hell) is such that one look at it will have a man willing to escape it by throwing his children in, his wife in, his brother in, his parents in, his entire clan in. We cannot imagine throwing our children into any fire on earth to escape it ourselves, yet this is what we will be doing as a result of just a glance at Jahannum. Fear will make us mindless!
On the Day of Judgment Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) will ask a sinner that if he had equivalent to the world in gold would he give it to ransom himself from the Fire. In fact, a sinner would readily agree to give twice as much. Then Allah (subhana wa ta’ala) will say: Did I not ask you for something much less than this in the world? Only a few sujood, only to make your guest feel welcome, only to say ‘La ilaha ilAllah’. Unfortunately the most ordinary and easy task seems difficult to us because we don’t see Jahannum before our eyes. But when we will it will be too late to do anything.
May Allah save us from the punishment of the Hellfire. 'Ameen. |

Charity in Darkness |
" It is reported that there used to be poor people in Al-Madinah who didn’t know where they were getting their food from. When ‘Ali {Zayn al-Abidin} ibn Husain passed away, they started missing what they used to be given at night.
Abu Hamzah At-Thumali narrates that ‘Ali the son of Imam Husain used to carry bread on his back in the darkness of the night and follow the poor people {to give it to... th...em}.
He used to say, “Charity in the darkness of the night extinguishes the Lords anger.”
‘Amr ibn Thabit reports that when ‘Ali the son of Imam Husain died, they found marks on his back from the sacks of provisions he used to carry at night to the houses of the widows.
Shaybah ibn Nu’amah narrates that when ‘Ali the son of Imam Husain died they found out that he used to provide for a hundred {poor} families.
{Siyar A’lam An-Nubala’ = The Lives of the Noble Figures = under the biography of ‘Ali ibn Husain also known as Zayn Al-‘Abidin}
May Allah be well pleased with them all. Ameen!" |

SECRETS OF SURAH AL-KAHF |
Ever wondered why Prophet
Muhammad(SAW) asked us to recite
Surat Al-Kahf every Friday? Let’s find out today inshaAllah...
This Surah has Four stories in it,having
some morals,lets see them and
understand what they are saying to us:
1) The People Of The Cave
Its the story of young men who lived in a disbelieving town, so they decide to migrate for the sake of Allah and run away. -Allah rewards them with mercy
in the cave and protection from the sun - They woke up and found the entire
village believers.
MORAL:TRIAL OF FAITH.
2) The Owner Of Two Gardens
A story of a man whom Allah blessed
with two beautiful gardens, but the
man forgot to thank the One who
blessed him with everything and he
even dared to doubt Allah regarding the afterlife. So His garden was
destroyed - He regretted ,but was too
late and his regret did not benefit him .
MORAL:TRIAL OF WEALTH.
3) Musa(AS) and Khidr(AS)
When Musa(AS) was asked-“Who’s the
most knowledgeable of the people of
earth?"” Musa(AS) said:Me...,but Allah
revealed to him that there’s someone
who Knows more than him.Musa(AS) traveled to the man and learnt how the
Divine Wisdom can sometimes be
hidden in matters which we perceive as bad.
MORAL:TRIAL OF KNOWLEDGE.
4) Dhul-Qarnayn
Its a story of the great King that was
given knowledge and power and was
going around the world,helping people
and spreading all that's good.He was
able to overcome the problem of Yajooj-Majooj and build a massive dam
with the help of people whom he could
not even understand.
MORAL:TRIAL OF POWER.
In the middle Allah mentions Iblees as
the one who stirs these trials:
Behold! We said to the angels "Bow
down to Adam": they bowed down
except Iblis. He was one of the Jinns,
and he broke the Command of his Lord. Will ye then take him and his progeny
as protectors rather than Me? And they
are enemies to you! Evil would be the
exchange for the wrongdoers! Now let us see what’s the relationship
between Surat Al-Kahf and the Dajjal
(Anti-Christ)? Dajjal will appear before Day of
Judgement with the 4 trials: ***He’ll ask people to worship him and
not Allah:
Trial of Faith . ***He’ll be given powers to start/stop
rain and tempt people with his wealth:
Trial of with his wealth. . ***He’ll trial people with the
“knowledge” and news he gives them:
Trial of Knowledge . He’ll control huge parts of the Earth.
Trial of Power . How to survive these trials?
The answers are in Surat Al-Kahf # Survival Kit 1: Good companionship.
“And keep thy soul content with those
who call on their Lord morning and
evening, seeking His Face; and let not
thine eyes pass beyond them, seeking
the pomp and glitter of this Life; no obey any whose heart We have
permitted to neglect the remembrance
of Us, one who follows his own desires,
whose case has gone beyond all
bounds.” (Surat Al-Kahf, verse 28) #
Survival Kit 2: Knowing the Truth of
this World .
“Set forth to them the similitude of the
life of this world: It is like the rain which
we send down from the skies: the
earth's vegetation absorbs it, but soon it becomes dry stubble, which the

The Description of Paradise (Jannah) |
"Ibn al-Qayyim said, in regards to the description of the Paradise and the delights that it contains:
"And if you ask about its ground and its soil, then it is of musk and saffron.
And if you ask about its roof, then it is the Throne of the Most Merciful.
And if you ask about its rocks, then they are pearls and jewels.
And if you ask about its buildings, then they are made of bricks of gold and silver.
And if you ask about its trees, then it does not contain a single tree except that its trunk is made of gold and silver.
And if you ask about its fruits, then they are softer than butter and sweeter than honey.
And if you ask about its leaves, then they are softer than the softest cloth.
And if you ask about its rivers, then there are rivers of milk who's taste does not change, and rivers of wine that is delicious to those who drink it, and rivers of honey that is pure, and rivers of water that is fresh.
And if you ask about their food, then it is fruits from whatever they will choose, and the meat of whatever birds they desire.
And if you ask about their drink, then it is Tasneem, ginger, and Kaafoor.
And if you ask about their drinking cups, then they are crystal-clear and made of gold and silver.
And if you ask about its shade, then a fast rider would ride in the shade of one of its trees for a hundred years and not escape it.
And if you ask about its vastness, then the lowest of its people would have within his kingdom and walls and palaces and gardens the distance that would be travelled in a thousand years.
And if you ask about its tents and encampments, then one tent is like a concealed pearl that is sixty miles long.
And if you ask about its towers, then they are rooms above rooms in buildings that have rivers running underneath them.
And if you ask about how far it reaches into the sky, then look at the shining star that is visible, as well as those that are far in the heavens that the eyesight cannot possibly reach.
And if you ask about the clothing of its inhabitants, then they are of silk and gold.
And if you ask about its beds, then its blankets are of the finest silk laid out in the highest of its levels.
And if you ask about the faces of its inhabitants and their beauty, then they are like the image of the Moon.
And if you ask about their age, then they are young ones of 33 years in the image of Adam, the father of humanity.
And if you ask about what they will be hearing, then it is the singing of their wives from among the Hoor al-'Ayn, and better than that are the voices of the Angels and the Prophets, and better than that is the Speech of the Lord of the Worlds.
And if you ask about their servants, then they are young boys of everlasting youth who resemble scattered pearls.
And if you ask about their brides and wives, then they are young and full-breasted and have had the liquid of youth flow through their limbs; the Sun runs along the beauty of her face if she shows it, light shines from between her teeth if she smiles; if you meet her love, then say whatever you want regarding the joining of two lights; he sees his face in the roundness of her cheek as if he is looking into a polished mirror, and he sees the brightness from behind her muscles and bones; if she were to be unleashed upon the World, she would fill what is between the Heavens and the Earth with a beautiful wind, and the mouths of the creation would glorifiy, praise, and exclaim greatness, and everything between the East and the West would be adorned for her, and every eye would be shut from everthing but her, and the light of the Sun would be outshone just as the light of the Sun outshines the light of the stars, and everyone on the face of the Earth would believe in the Ever-Living, the One who Sustains and Protects all the exists.
And the covering on her head is better than the World and all that is in it, and she does not increase with age except in beauty; free from an umbilical cord, childbirth and menses, and pure of mucous, saliva, urine and other filthy things; her youth never fades, her clothing is never worn out, no garment can be created that matches her beauty, and no one who is with her can ever become bored; her attention is restricted to her husband, so she desires none but him, just as his attention is restricted to her so she is the sole object of his desire, and he is with her in utmost safety and security, as none has touched her before of either humans or Jinn.
And if you ask about the Day of Increase (in reward) and the visit of the all-Mighty, all-Wise, and the sight of His Face - free from any resemblance or likeness to anything - as you see the Sun in the middle of the day and the full Moon on a cloudless night, then listen on the day that the caller will call: 'O People of Paradise! Your Lord - Blessed and Exalted - requests you to visit Him, so come to visit Him!' So they will say: 'We hear and obey!'
Until, when they finally reach the wide valley where they will all meet - and none of them will turn down the request of the caller - the Lord - Blessed and Exalted - will order His Chair to be brought there. Then, pulpits of light will emerge, as well as pulpits of pearls, gemstone, gold, and silver. The lowest of them in rank will sit on sheets of musk, and will not see what those who are on the chairs above them are given. When they are comfortable where they are sitting and are secure in their places, and the caller calls: 'O People of Paradise! You have an appointment with Allaah in which He wishes to reward you!' So they will say: 'And what is that reward? Has He not already made our faces bright, made our scales heavy, entered us into Paradise, and pushed us away from the Fire?'
And when they are like that, all of a sudden a light shines that encompasses all of Paradise. So, they raise their heads, and, behold: the Compeller - Exalted is He, and Holy are His Names - has come to them from above them and majestified them and said: 'O People of Paradise! Peace be upon you!' So, this greeting will not be responded to with anything better than: 'O Allaah! You are Peace, and from You is Peace! Blessed are You, O possessor of Majesty and Honor!' So the Lord - Blessed and Exalted - will laugh to them and say: 'O People of Paradise! Where are those who used to obey Me without having ever seen Me? This is the Day of Increase!'
So, they will all give the same response: 'We are pleased, so be pleased with us!' So, He will say: 'O People of Paradise! If I were not pleased with you, I would not have made you inhabitants of My Paradise! So, ask of Me!' So, they will all give the same response: 'Show us your Face so that we may look at it!' So, the Lord - Mighty and Majestic - will remove his covering and will majestify them and will cover them with His Light, which, if Allaah - the Exalted - had not Willed not to burn them, would have burned them.
And there will not remain a single person in this gathering except that his Lord - the Exalted - will speak to him and say: 'Do you remember the day that you did this and that?' and He will remind him of some of his bad deeds in the Worldy life, so he will say: 'O Lord! Will you not forgive me?' So, He will say: 'Of course! You have not reached this position of yours (in Paradise) except by my forgiveness.'
So, how sweet is this speech to the ears, and how cooled are the righteous eyes by the glance at His Noble Face in the Afterlife...
{Some faces that Day will be shining and radiant, l ooking at their Lord...} (al-Qiyaamah:22-3)

MEANING OF MUHSANAAT |
Praise be to Allaah.
Al-Shanqeeti said:
...
The word muhsanaat is used in three senses in the Qur’aan:
(1) Muhsanaat meaning chaste women. For example, Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“they (the above said slave-girls) should be chaste [muhsanaat], not committing illegal sex, nor taking boyfriends”
[al-Nisaa’ 4:25]
i.e., they should be chaste, not committing zina (fornication or adultery).
(2) muhsanaat meaning free. For example, Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“if they commit illegal sexual intercourse, their punishment is half of that for free[muhsanaat] (unmarried) women”
[al-Nisaa’ 4:25]
(3) the word ihsaan (from which the word muhsanaat is derived) may also mean marriage. For example the aayah (interpretation of the meaning):
“And after they have been taken in wedlock [uhsinna], if they commit illegal sexual intercourse…”[al-Nisaa’ 4:25]
meaning ,when they have gotten married. The view of some scholars, that the meaning of ihsaan in the phrase “uhsinna” is Islam goes against the apparent meaning of the context of the aayah, because the context of the aayah is speaking about believing girls, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And whoever of you have not the means wherewith to wed free believing women…”[al-Nisaa’ 4:25]
Ibn Katheer said in his commentary on this aayah:
The most apparent meaning – and Allaah knows best – is that what is meant by ihsaan here is marriage, because the context of the aayah indicates that, when Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And whoever of you have not the means wherewith to wed free believing women, they may wed believing girls from among those (slaves) whom your right hands possess…”[al-Nisaa’ 4:25]
The context of the aayah speaks of believing (slave) girls. Therefore the meaning of the phrase “uhsinna” means marriage, as it was interpreted by Ibn ‘Abbaas and others.

The last testament of Umar Bin Khatta'ab |
|
Prophet Muhammad PBUH, praise about Hazrat Farooq-e-Azam
"If there were to be a Prophet after me, he would have been Umar."- (Tirmidhi)
The last testament of Umar Bin Khatta'ab:
... "Be kind and generous to the Muhajirun and the Ansar. Those out of them who are good, be good to them; those who are bad overlook their lapses. Be good to the people of the conquered lands. They are the outer line of our defense; they are the target of the anger and distress of our enemies. They contribute to our revenues. They should be taxed only on their surplus wealth. Be gracious to the Bedouins as they are the backbone of the Arab nation. I instruct you to be good to the Dhimmis for they are your responsibility. Do not tax them beyond their capacity. Ensure that they pay the Jizya without undue inconvenience. Fear God, and in all that you do keep His pleasure in view. In the matter of people fear God, and in the matter of Allah do not be afraid of the people. With regard to the people, I enjoin upon you to administer justice with an even hand. See that all the legitimate requirements of the people are met. Be concerned for their welfare. Ensure the safety of their person and property. See that the frontiers of our domains are not violated. Take strong steps to guard the frontiers. In the matter of administration do not prefer the rich to the poor. Be hard against those who violate the law. Show them no mercy. Do not rest content until you have brought the miscreants to book. Treat all the people as equal. Be a pillar of strength for those who are weak and oppressed. Those who are strong but do wrong, make them pay for their wrong-doings. In the distribution of booty and other matters be above nepotism. Let no consideration of relationship or selfish interest weigh with you. The Satan is at large; it may tempt you. Rise above all temptations and perform your duties in accordance with the injunctions of Islam. Get guidance from the Holy Quran and Sunnah. Freely consult the wise men around you. Apply your own mind in difficult cases, and seek light from God. Be simple in your living and your habits. Let there be no show or ostentation about you. Lead life as a model Muslim. As you are the leader of the Muslims, justify your leadership by being the best among them all. May God bless you.
As per Umar's will, he was buried next to Al-Masjid al-Nabawi alongside Muhammad and Caliph Abu Bakr by the permission of Aisha R.A. "
